【摘要】:Thistestmethodmaybeusedforroutineinspectionpurposesbysubjectingarequirednumberofspecimenstothetestconditionsforaspecifiedtimeandnotingthenumberthatfail.Thecrackingobtainedwiththetestreagentisindicativeofwhatmaybeexpectedfromawidevarietyofsurface-activeagents,soaps,andorganicsubstancesthatarenotabsorbedappreciablybythepolymer.Environmentalstress-crackingisapropertythatishighlydependentuponthenatureandlevelofthestressesappliedandonthethermalhistoryofthespecimen(1).Undertheconditionsofthetestmethod,highlocalmultiaxialstressesaredevelopedthroughtheintroductionofacontrolledimperfection(2,3).Environmentalstress-crackinghasbeenfoundtooccurmostreadilyundersuchconditions.Note28212;DifferenttypesofpolyethyleneplasticsasdefinedinSpecificationD1248aregenerallytestedunderdifferentlevelsofstrainandstress.Whenitisexpresslydesiredtocomparethetypesatequallevelsofstrain,thespecimensforalltypesshouldbetestedunderConditionB,Table1(4).Informationfromthistestmethodisnotintendedtobeusedfordirectapplicationtoengineeringproblems.Note38212;Cautionshouldbeusedincomparingandrankingvariousethyleneplasticsintodistinctandseparategroupsbythistestmethod(seeSection13andNote12).Asthermalhistoryisrecognizedasanimportantvariable,testresultsbythistestmethodemployinglaboratorymoldedsamplescannotnecessarilybeexpectedtoshowagreementwithtestresultsfromsamplesobtainedbyothermeans.Thetrueperformancepotentialofagivenethyleneplasticmay,however,bestbedeterminedwithspecimensobtainedfromcommerciallyprepareditems(5).TABLE1StandardTestConditionsConditionSpecimenThicknessNotchDepthBathTemperature,x00B0;CmmAin.mmAin.AB
